Overview
In charge of getting the work done, on time and on budget.
Manages teams and projects, working closely with the Head of Production, Executive Producers and Creative Leadership to lead teams and clients through the production process, achieving technical, creative and financial success.
Manages client relationships and accounts, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable process.
Has a background in art, design and/or production.
Represents and advances Black Math’s production efforts to key staff, and actively seeks to elevate the company in smart ways.
This is a full-time position based in our Boston, MA office.
Responsibilities
Project Management
• Oversee the entire production process from concept to delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Act as the primary conduit between project award and internal set-up and execution, championing such areas as the hand-off process, kick-off meetings, delivery schedules and determining key goals.
• Create optimal schedules and workflows in conjunction with the Head of Production, Creative leadership, and other production team members.
• Participate in daily and weekly resource allocation for projects, keeping a close tab on your shifting project needs and facilitating communication to resolve any issues.
• Ensure all work is archived redundantly both on and off-site, with the ability to unarchive final work or working project files quickly if needed. Handle administrative tasks, such as invoicing, contracts, and vendor management.
Client Relationships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
• Provide prompt and clear communication throughout the project, ensuring the client understands where we are within the project schedule and scope.
• Strategize with the Head of Production and Relationship Managers to realign projects if objectives are not being met.
• Identify and implement ways to increase client satisfaction during production.
Vendor RelationsHIPS
• Manage and grow Black Math’s vendor base.
• Provide prompt and clear communication to our vendor partners leading up to and throughout their bookings.
• Facilitate the administrative needs for contractors.
Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor your project teams and junior production staff.
• Identify and implement ways to increase productivity, quality and a healthy production process.
• Participate actively and constructively in project recaps with the goal of continually learning and improving our collaborative processes.
• Provide clear and positive leadership and growth-focused mentorship to team members and the rest of staff.
• Nurture a positive, lively, and healthy work culture in the studio.
Financial Management
• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability.
• Help identify key bidding assumptions and/or methodologies that enable maximum efficiency and effectiveness to reach project and studio goals.
• Meet regularly with the Head of Production, Executive Producers and Partners on project budgets to ensure they are on target.
Risk Management
• Identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact project timelines or budgets.
• Regularly meet with the EP to report and discuss job health.
Quality Assurance
• Ensure high-quality standards throughout the production process.
• Review works in progress before they’re sent to the client, ensuring that all notes are addressed.
Business Development
• Contribute to business development efforts, including pitching new projects and proposals.
• Working closely with the EP/ECD, aid in the initial assessment, viability and forecasting of potential projects.
• Close sales, owning the project development and negotiation process.• Be able to story-tell around the value of our work, how we’re going to be successful, and be able to speak to our offerings and process from a place of deep understanding.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in film, animation, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in production, preferably in the design and animation industry
• Proven track record of leading successful projects
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience with project management software
• Experience with production payroll software, Wrapbook
• A deep understanding of production pipelines and industry standards
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating high-quality work
