Branding a luxury boutique hotel sanctuary

Visual Identity

Brand Guidelines

Wayfinding

Luzia came to us with a vision and a hotel that was still under construction. The founders imagined a sanctuary shaped by light, calm, and connection, nestled between jungle and ocean in beautiful Nosara, Costa Rica. Trees guide the architecture, community shapes the rhythm, and every detail invites belonging. We translated that intention into a brand identity that expresses barefoot luxury in a way that feels vibrant, elegant, and minimal, giving Luzia a presence before its doors open.

Finding the soul

of Luzia

Before building systems or guidelines, we look for the visceral creative truth of the brand. The emotional core that everything can grow from. For Luzia, that moment came through a simple local reference: the Plumeria flower. The flower carries a quiet symbolism that matches the founders’ vision or natural beauty, warmth, and a sense of place.

We wanted Luzia to feel refined but never exclusive, a place that welcomes everyone while maintaining a sense of quiet elegance.

The design language reflects this balance. We built a visual identity that is minimal and modern, but softened with warmth. Clean typography, generous space, and restrained graphic elements allow the brand to feel calm and intentional while still vibrant and inviting.

Our color palette draws directly from the surrounding environment. Warm neutrals echo sunlit architecture and sand, while deeper tones reference jungle foliage, volcanic earth, and the shifting colors of the Pacific at dusk. Together they feel grounded in Nosara without leaning into clichés of tropical hospitality branding.

A Living Brand System

Because the hotel was still under construction, the brand had to function as a foundation for everything that would come next. We created a comprehensive brand system and guidelines to scale with the project. From signage and print to digital experiences and merchandise, the system gives the Luzia team a flexible set of tools to express the brand consistently.

What began as a local reference became a defining mark, appearing in a bronze sculpture at the hotel’s entrance.

The Luzia plumeria gives the hotel a symbol that feels iconic and deeply rooted in place. Guests encounter this first as a physical sculpture, then as a recurring visual signature.
