TransMedics had world changing organ transplant technology, but a forgettable brand. Since 2020, Black Math has helped evolve TM into a brand worthy of the tech behind it, as the company scaled through regulation, growth, and global expansion.
TransMedics’ technology makes it possible to preserve and transport donor organs to patients in need. Through abstraction and metaphor, we developed a visual language that expressed precision, care, and continuity.
Backed by leadership, the work broke from biotech conventions to create a design system that matched the sophistication of the technology.

We developed a visual language of spheres moving along boundless red paths that communicated the journey of an organ: protected, in motion, and continuously monitored.
The system was built to support multiple audiences, from clinicians and partners to investors and internal teams. By adapting the story across formats and contexts, it maintained clarity and credibility throughout the rollout of TransMedics’ FDA-approved mobile organ perfusion device.

Our visual language carried into immersive trade show experiences, where Black Math designed environments that invited learning using motion, interaction, and spatial storytelling to draw people in.
